Holiday Gift Wrapping Tips Using Glitter Tape

One of our papercrafting experts at Imagination International has some gift wrapping tips for the holidays. Using glitter tape and Copic markers, you can learn how to makes gifts sparkle in this DIY tutorial.

The one thing we usually need throughout the holidays is pretty gift packaging, so today I have a few quick tips to make sure your gift packages sparkle!  I am particularly fond of tags, so I created this simple tag gift box.

I used a die template, but you could easily create a similar look by using a small to medium box or box lid. Then just attach tags to the front and back of the box!  I used strong holding X-Press It High Tack Double-Sided Tape to assemble my box.

Add Some Sparkle

The pretty finishing touches are made by applying X-Press It Glitter Deco Tape to the sides of your box!  Above, I used 6mm (approximately 1/4-inch) wide blue Glitter Deco Tape on my silver metallic cardstock box.

For the little gift packages on the front of my box, I gave them LOTS of sparkle by covering scrap cardstock with X-Press It’s new wider 25mm (approximately 1-inch) Glitter Deco Tape (available in beautiful Silver and Gold).

How Nicely it Die Cuts!

The tape is thin but sturdy and repositionable – you could peel the die cut pieces off the scrap cardstock and layer them together but I chose to leave the tape on the cardstock, to give the little packages some sturdiness.

Coloring the Glitter Deco Tape

The Silver Glitter Deco Tape takes Copic marker coloring beautifully, to give you limitless color choices! Below, I used R27, YG17 and BG05.

Then I layered the pieces together, to create the cute sparkling gift packages in gorgeous colors!

Custom Gift Tags

I then die cut a small gift tag and quickly customized it by stamping the “To” and “From” in silver metallic ink and adhered two different colors of the 6mm Glitter Deco Tape (blue and green) along the bottom edge of the tag.

I also die cut a “Merry” frame from white shimmer cardstock, first covering the area where the Merry word would be with the 25mm wide Silver Glitter Deco Tape. Then I adhered the gift packages within the frame, using X-Press It Foam Mounting Tape.

I also made a set of quick gift tags in the same manner as the one on my gift box, using one strip of different pretty holiday colors of the 6mm Glitter Deco Tape (green, red, blue, silver, and gold) – there are also five other colors from which to choose!

You could just as easily purchase inexpensive tags to keep on hand and quickly dress them up with whatever width or color of Glitter Deco Tape you’d like, for any occasion!
